Move 4 Mind - From Survival to Safety
Hi, I’m Roxanne!
I know what it feels like to be stuck in survival mode; anxious, exhausted, people-pleasing, and constantly reacting instead of living. For years, I was living that exact life: stuck in toxic cycles, coping with stress in all the wrong ways, and feeling disconnected from my own body and emotions.
Through trial and error (self-help books, journaling, meditation, even medication) I made some progress, but it wasn’t until I started working with a trauma-informed expert that things truly shifted. I learned how to understand and release my old patterns, reconnect with my body, and feel safe in my emotions. That’s when I finally stepped out of survival mode and started living with calm, clarity, and confidence.
The Moment I Realized I Needed More
I remember being in college, working part-time as a nanny for twin 10-month-olds. During their nap time, I’d clean bottles, do chores, and listen to self-help books on Audible. One day, I was listening to The Way of the Superior Man (yes, the book my toxic now ex-boyfriend recommended to me) and feeling pretty proud of myself for being so “productive and zen.”
Then one of the babies woke up crying. And I… got mad. Really mad. “How dare this tiny human wake up and disturb my peace?!”

It’s funny now, but in that moment, I realized something important: I was so stuck in survival mode that even a baby’s cry, this totally normal thing, could push me over the edge. I knew then that I needed more than self-help books, meditation, and routines. I needed tools that actually helped me reconnect with my body, regulate my emotions, and stop living on constant high alert.
Finding Safety Before Growth
Even though I had work to do on myself (insecurities, self-doubt, trouble setting boundaries and managing my emotions) I realized I wouldn’t be able to truly heal until I was in a safe environment.
Some of the things I thought were “normal” in relationships? Not normal at all. My partner would freak out if I went to my work’s Christmas party (I was a waitress/barista at a brunch spot) or randomly show up at work upset that I couldn’t leave. He convinced me my friends weren’t good people, or didn’t really like me, because of minor disagreements or because they were boys.

Once I moved back home, I leaned into woo-woo self-care rituals (sage and incense, candle-lighting ceremonies, dream journaling) and began learning to love myself again with the help of a trauma-informed guide. I explored tools and practices that helped me heal from the inside out.
From there, I became a ballroom dance teacher, and it was magical. I loved helping students find confidence in their bodies and letting their personalities shine through. Playing pretend, embodying different dance characters, and connecting to movement was healing in itself.
Wanting to go deeper, I attended a virtual somatic healing summit, earned my wellness coaching certification, and began working with clients. I then pursued a somatic healing certification, learning advanced tools to interpret the body’s signals and take clients’ practice deeper. Finally, I dove into courses for the NBHWC, so I could fully understand the mind-body connection and guide clients holistically.
How I Help: My Coaching Approach
My coaching is warm, empathetic, and to the point. I guide clients through questions, exercises, and reflective prompts to uncover the root of their patterns and create real change.
Some of the tools and practices we use together:
Trigger Mapping: Understand why you react and choose differently
Body-Based Grounding & Movement: Stop spirals and reconnect with your body
Routine Building: Create rituals that support balance and calm
Emotional Awareness Tools: Feel your feelings without being controlled by them
Why coaching is different from therapy: I focus on moving forward with actionable tools, rather than digging endlessly into the past. Together, we work on your nervous system, habits, and body’s wisdom, so you can live a life that feels safe, steady, and fully yours.
Who I Work With
I work with women who are:
Feeling exhausted from always holding it together
High-functioning empaths, recovering caretakers, or quiet achievers running on empty
Stuck in patterns of overthinking, people-pleasing, or self-doubt
Ready to break cycles and reconnect with their body, mind, and confidence
What survival mode looks like day-to-day:
Waking up tense and staying on edge
Overthinking, replaying conversations, worrying about what others think
People-pleasing, perfectionism, hyper-independence
Emotional numbness or constant emotional reactivity
Physical tension, shallow breathing, and low energy
What healing looks like:
Pausing instead of reacting, responding instead of spiraling
Trusting your gut and setting boundaries confidently
Feeling safe in your body and emotions
Enjoying life fully, without guilt or self-doubt
